Russell Semon, MA, LPC-S
Russell has worked in the “helping professions” for the past 31 years, serving in a variety of roles and settings, including residential treatment, group homes, outpatient substance abuse / mental health, and administrative positions overseeing services on a regional and statewide basis. He has maintained a private practice for the past 8 years and is licensed in Louisiana as a Professional Counselor and Supervisor to Counselor Interns. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University in Shreveport and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University.
Russell has participated in and provided training to parents, counselors, social workers, and physicians, over the years on a wide range of topics (parent training, crisis intervention, incident management, cognitive behavior therapy, brief strategic family therapy, AACC curriculum Growing Kids and Caring for People God’s Way, etc.) and embraces the concept of lifelong learning.
Russell has been a Christian since the age of 13 and has never been without a church home here in Shreveport. Having grown up under the spiritual leadership of such pastors as W.D. “Step” Martin, Billy Crosby, and Wayne Dubose, his faith is grounded in strong conservative, biblical values. He and his family, wife Kathy, daughter Sarah-Katherine, sons Christian and Cameron attend and are actively involved in Broadmoor Baptist Church worship, youth activities and adult B-group.
